Pilates Matwork Course

1. Pilates Matwork Foundation Course

 

Pre-requisite:
This course is suitable for all who are interested in Pilates Matwork, even for those without prior experience. All are welcomed. Those who have medical conditions would have to seek doctor’s permission before joining.

Duration:
Total - 30 hours

10 days program of 3 hours daily; or
5 days intensive program of 6 hours daily.

Course Structure:
1.5 hours of Pilates workout daily (Beginners exercises)
1.5 hours of theory

Intensive program will be 2 sessions of the above daily.

Theory contents:
Basic concepts on Anatomy of Human Body
What are cells, tissues, organs and systems?
Skeletal System - 4.5 hrs (3 days or 1.5 days for intensive)

  • Introduction, the Appendicular Section
  • The Axial Section
  • Types of Joints

Muscular System – 6 hrs (4 days or 2 days for intensive)

  • The 3 planes
  • Names of Muscles, Origin and Insertion
    • Neck, Chest and Trunk
    • Back, Shoulders and Arms
    • Hip and Legs
  • Concept of Isometric, Eccentric and Concentric contractions

Requirements to obtain the Certificate:
Minimum of 80% attendance
Obtain at least 50% in practical exam
Obtain at least 50% in theory exam

2. Pilates Matwork Instructor Course 

Pre-requisite:
This is for those who have

  • Obtained the certificate for the One Fitness Pilates Matwork Foundation Course
  • Minimum 30 hours of Pilates Training plus relevant qualification in Anatomy and Physiology (e.g. Personal Training Certification, Degree in Medicine, Physiotherapy etc)

Course Duration:

  • Instructional and supervised teaching - 40 hours (6 hours daily X 6 days, final exam day, 4 hours, total 7 days)

  • 20 hours of self-practice, observation

  • 20 hours of teaching

  • 20 hours of project work and assignments

  • Total: 100 hours

Course Structure:

  • 2 hours of Pilates workout daily (Beginners and Intermediate Exercises)

  • 2 hours of teaching practice

  • 2 hours of theory

Contents:

  • History & Background of Pilates

  • Overview of Pilates Exercise

  • The Basic Principles

  • Breakdown of each exercise

  • Analysis of muscle groups, alignment, movement for each exercise

  • Modifications for different body types

  • Modifications to increase or decrease exercise intensity

  • Recognizing mistakes and adjusting students

  • Instructional Cues and vocabulary, analogy

  • Beginner Mat Series

  • Intermediate Mat Series

  • Power Mat Series

  • Class Programming

  • Teaching Methodology

  • Postural Analysis

  • Personal Class vs Group Classes

Examination:

  • Theory Exam

  • Practical Exam

  • Teaching Exam

Requirements to obtain the Certificate:

  • Minimum of 80% attendance

  • Obtain at least 50% in teaching exam

  • Obtain at least 50% in theory exam

  • Submit project work and assignments before the deadline set by the Management.

  • Complete 20 hours of self-practice, observation and 20 hours of teaching within 3 months from the last day of course

Course Fee:
RM 3500
